Greece quarantines second refugee camp

By 4 years ago

Greece has quarantined a second refugee camp, after a 53-year-old man tested positive for coronavirus, the Migration Ministry announced on Sunday.

The Afghan man, who was found to be infected, lives with his family at the Malakasa camp (near Athens) along with hundreds of other migrants.

Under the quarantine rules, no one will be allowed in or out of the camp for two weeks.

The man has been transferred to a hospital in Athens, while tests on his contacts will continue as authorities try to trace the route of the virus.

This comes after authorities quarantined the Ritsona camp (on the island of Euboea) last Thursday, after 20 of its residents tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19).
