According to US media reports acclaimed Australian actress Nicole Kidman is expected to join the cast of Academy nominated Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, for his new film.
Lanthimos is part of the new wave of Greek cinema, and has made serious waves in film circles starting with his work on ‘Dogtooth,’ which was nominated for an Academy Award, followed by his arthouse hit ‘The Lobster,’ starring Colin Farrell.
His current film ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ is reported to have a supernatural element to it and will again star Irish actor Farrell.
According to industry sources, the psychological thriller movie follows a successful surgeon (Farrell) who tries to bring a sinister teenager into his family. Kidman is expected to play his wife and shooting is said to begin around August.
Reports further noted that Lanthimos was also developing a historical drama exploring the reign of Britain’s Queen Anne, with Emma Stone taking on the lead role.
