Greek Australians once again proved their ability to mobilise and unite in times of crisis to support worthy causes, and this time was no exception as the “Listen to your Heart” campaign launched under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. They collected a record amount of aid to be sent to the people of Greece, currently struggling under the financial crisis that has crippled the nation.
Archibishop Stylianos and the Basiliadas Foundation, invited Greek Australians to offer food items, clothing and financial aid in order to assemble a container with clothes and food to be sent in aid of the people of Greece.
The response by the Greek communities across Australia has been amazing and far exceeded the initial goal of one container. To date the campaign has managed to put together 15 containers and is still counting.
They certainly listened to their heart and that of the Greek people.
