President Obama held a brief ceremony at the White House to welcome Greece’s newly appointed ambassador in Washington- Theoharis Lalakos.
During the ceremony, the US President praised the Greek people’s humanitarian efforts and solidarity in the refugee crisis whilst also facing their own challenges since the financial crisis.
President Obama reinstated his belief that despite the major challenges facing Greece, the country will overcome them and continue to play a crucial role in the region, as added that his country looks forward to further developing and strengthening Greek-American ties and cooperation on all levels, underlining that Greece is a valued US ally for peace, stability and democracy in Europe and the Mediterranean.
