An attempt to reveal the traces of the beginning of the universe, known by its popular name the Big Bang, was announced yesterday during the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science EWASS 2016 held in Athens and organised by the Eugenides Foundation in collaboration with the European Astronomical Society and the Greek Astronomical Society.

The unique astrophysics experiment was assigned to the Skinaka Observatory on the island of Crete, which will be joined by South Africa's SAAO Observatory in the attempt to part the veil of cosmic dust in order to reveal the "primeval light" formed at the earliest moments of creation.
