AEK completed their 4th signing of the summer with Juan Manuel Diaz. The Uruguayan left back signed a 2-year deal with the Kitrinomavri after leaving Racing Montevideo as a “free-agent.” Additionally, AEK announced the parting of way with Arzo while Soiledis.
Diaz will play for a second European club after signing a 2-year contract with AEK. The left-back began his career at Liverpool in 2006 and made a move to South America in 2008. He played with Estudiantes, where he won the Copa Libertadores (2009), before signing with River Plate in 2010. From 2012 to 2016 he played in his home country, Uruguay, with Nacional. His final stop before AEK was with Racing Montevideo where he made 20 appearances for the club. Diaz made his first appearance with the Uruguayan National Team in 2010 and has 9 caps for his country.
After signing his two-year deal with AEK, Diaz stated “I am proud to be joining AEK and becoming a member of such an important club. It was my dream to continue my career in Europe and I want to thank the administration for the chance they are giving me.” Diaz is AEK’s 4th signing of the summer after Bakasetas, Barkas, and Chygrynskiy.
AEK announced the parting of ways with central defender Arzo. The 30-year old played one season with AEK and made 19 appearances with the Kitrinomavri. He will continue his career in Kazakhstan with FC Kairat.
Finally, Aris Soiledis will play next season in Cyprus with Omonia. The 25-year old Greek midfielder played two years with AEK and helped the team gain promotion to the SuperLeague and win this year’s Greek Cup.
