Some of Germany’s leading travel agents and tourist operators have pledged their support in promoting Kos as a tourist destination for Germans during a 3- day conference held on the island.
The conference, held under the auspices of the Greek Tourism Ministry was organised by the Region of South Aegean, the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) and the Kos Hoteliers Association and looked at ways of boosting the island’s image and increases travel packages and tours to its shores.
The event included a hospitality program filled with sightseeing tours and dinner events for the German guests and was supported by local agencies and businesses on Kos.
“Without a doubt, Germany is a key tourism market not only for the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, but for every holiday destination in Europe. The Region of South Aegean is open to any cooperation in order to establish a better prospect for the increase of incoming tourism from Germany.”
“The basis of a good cooperation already exists as the increased quality of the tourism product of Kos, Rhodes and any other island in our region, as well as the special beauty of our country, already attracts a large number of German tourists,” said Marietta Papavasileiou, Vice Governor of Tourism for the Region of South Aegean.
Attendees from the German side included Florian Fleischer, Head of Product Management Eastern Mediterranean, TUI Germany; Joachim Seip, Director Group Hotel Contracting, Thomas Cook Group; Oliver Grosse-Kleinmann, Director Contracting & Product, Alltours; Nicole Bethke, Senior Product Manager, FTI Group; Jessica Klebing, Product Manager, Vtours; Maria Blouchou from Medina Reisen; and 30 independent travel agents.
