Zeus Street Greek opens in Sydney's CBD

“Could I please have a Zeus lamb Spartan box with no tzatziki please?” asked lucky Malayasian-Chinese Carmen.

First, in line with over 1500 CBD workers, Carmen waited patiently to score a free Spartan lunch box at the opening of Zeus Street Greek in Sydney’s busy Westfield, in the heart of Pitt Street.

Established in 2014, Zeus Street Food first opened in Sydney’s Drummoyne and has now expanded into six shops across the state of New South Wales. Plans are in the pipeline to open many more over the next 12 months.

Among Zeus’ delicious menu, there is grilled haloumi, lamb, pork and chicken with Feta and oregano chips. In keeping with revolutionising the Greek food scene, Zeus’ menu is available to purchase online.

Just as in ancient mythology when the all-powerful Zeus, regarded as the God of Gods of Mt Olympus- whose superpowers included that he oversaw that all people should be fed- Zeus Street Food created a happening in the middle of lunchtime rush hour in Sydney’s business district by offering over 1500 free Spartan boxes to happy workers.

One of the seven founding members Nicholas Kyprianos, is a successful businessman, who has turned his acumen to Greek food.

“In the past Zeus opened sit down dining Street Food shops, but this is our first express store. We spent three months in Europe researching equipment and menus, our grills are volcanic rocks and our souvles are specifically made in Europe to the best of Greek design.

It’s their central philosophy of philoxenia (hospitableness) that makes the Zeus experience outstanding. As one new Zeus punter added, “Look at all the Zeus staff they are smiling and friendly. Even though we are waiting in line, it is orderly and those grillers- wow.”

Research into the integrity of Greek food and salads is the backbone of the Zeus operation.

“We are deeply committed to using the freshest of ingredients and salads. Zeus’ Spartan box is a mixture of protein, carbohydrate and salad,” adds Nicholas Kyprianos.

Going beyond its mythological name, it is now possible to avoid lines to order your food online…yum!
