The Greek team is slowly making its way over to Brazil, with Greece sending 95 athletes to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. The opening ceremony is taking place this Friday, 5th of August at 8pm Brazilian time.
In keeping with tradition, Greece will enter first, leading the Parade of Nations during the opening ceremony at the Maracana Stadium. Sailing champion Sofia Bekatorou will be the flag bearer and first Greek female at that.
There are 57 men and 38 women in total who will be competing in Rio and the first team competition will see the Greek water polo team up against Japan on Saturday the 6th of August.
