Greek anarchists shoot up Mexican Embassy

Greek anarchists might be behind shots fired at the Mexican Embassy in Greece, situated in the up market Athenian precinct of Kolonaki after a bullet hole was discovered in a window of the building.

Police authorities discovered two holes in the building – one in a window on the fourth floor which accommodates a brokerage firm and another in the facade of the third floor where a clothing trading company has its offices.

Ballistic tests carried out concluded the bullet fired came from a long barrelled rifle, most likely a Kalashnikov-type assault rifle.

Although police do not have any definitive leads, it is noted that the Greek anarchist group Rouvikonas (Rubicon) briefly occupied the offices of the Mexican Embassy in June as part of protests against the country’s alleged corruption and human rights violations.

Rouvikonas is the same group that vandalised the Turkish Embassy in Athens last month as reported by Greek City Times.
