Chania & Parga most desired destinations for Greek locals

Countdown to Greece’s beloved “Dekapedavgousto” 15th of August holiday period is definitely underway and hotel website Trivago has revealed the most popular destinations searched online by local Greek users.

The searches were carried out from March 1 to August 1 for the August 11-16 period.

This year Chania in Crete is the top destination for the August 15 holiday amongst Greeks that searched on Trivago.

Halkidiki had ranked first last year however this year has not been featured on the list.

Next preferred destinations for 2016’s August 15 holiday period are Parga and Naxos. Last year Parga was in the 10th place and Naxos was the 15th most preferred destination.

It should be well noted that two of Greece’s most popular tourist destinations for international travellers- Santorini and Mykonos- are both absent from the Greeks’ preferences this year, according to Trivago’s list.
