Worlds Apart to premiere at Delphi Bank 23rd Greek Film Festival

The Delphi Bank 23rd Greek Film Festival has announced the Australian premiere of Worlds Apart, starring Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons, as the movie to kick start the Greek Film Festival this year in both Sydney and Melbourne.

The romantic drama written and directed by the critically acclaimed Christopher Papakaliatis is the highest grossing Greek film since 2009, and will also star the Greek filmmaker.

Set in modern day Greece, Worlds Apart tells three separate love stories, between a Greek and a foreigner. The narratives represent a different generation falling in love during the European crisis, which eventually connect to a single story.
J.K. Simmons said, “[Worlds Apart] has the flavour of being a Greek film, but also has a very international quality. Christopher as a writer, as a film director and as an actor was a triple threat and [has been] a treat to work with.”

“We are very excited to open the Festival with Papakaliatis’ second feature. Worlds Apart shows that despite its harsh realities, Greece is still a place where truth, beauty and humanity exist,” said Festival Chair, Nia Karteris.

For 22 years, the Greek Film Festival has presented some of the best Greek cinema to Australian audiences. Prepare to fall in love with stories from and about Greece’s rich and ancient culture and peoples, all over again.
