A Greek travel company hopes to break the Guinness World Record for the largest Greek salad in the world this September, in Moscow’s Red Square.

The company, Mouzenidis Travel, is using the attempt as an opportunity to promote Greece abroad and has recruited over 1,200 volunteers who will be assisting in the extravagant attempt.

“Mouzenidis Travel is ready to put Greece in the Guinness book and Greek flavours on world dishes”, the company said.

The event will be part of a wider celebration, the Russian International Festival of Military Music and the festivities of Moscow Day, celebrated the first days of September.

The organisers expect that the completed salad will weigh an estimated 20 tonnes.
