Greek navy to light up the nation

If you’re anywhere near water and presumably in Greece, you might want to go to the nearest lighthouse- even if you’re not swaying in a boat.

On the 21st of this month, Greece’s navy will be opening to the public more than 20 lighthouses around the country, as part of the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend.

Visitors will be allowed in during the day where they will be guided through and educated on the importance of lighthouses and the other nautical aids in navigation, as well as the contribution made by lighthouse-keepers.

Opening hours are from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at the following lighthouses:

  1. Aghios Nikolaos, Kea
