Greece’s football Super League has again been thrown into turmoil.
According to a variety of sports reports, leading teams Panathinaikos, AEK Athens and PAOK Salonika threaten to withdraw from this season’s competition over a dispute in choice of refereeing.
The Greek Football Federation is said to have compiled a list of referees without consulting the teams.
In a recent statement Panathinaikos said they would "Refuse to participate in another championship scarred by dubious refereeing.”
AEK and PAOK are also furious with the decision and calling for the EPO President Giorgos Gkirtzikis to resign.
This is another blow to Greece’s football league as earlier this year they were close to suspension from international football after the government ordered the Greek Cup final to be cancelled due to crowd rioting at a semi-final between Olympiakos and PAOK.
