Greece breaks world records and wins Gold at Paralympics

Greece's Thanasis Konstantinidis broke three world records to win the gold medal in the F32 shot put final on the first day of the Rio Paralympics, and was joined on the winners podium by fellow Greek

Dimitris Zisidis who came in third place taking the bronze in the same event.

The wins by Konstandinidis and Zisidis served as a morale booster for Greece's paralympic squad which is hopeful of a good standing in the overall rankings.

"The successes of Greek athletes at #Rio2016 continue to make us proud," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras posted in a tweet, congratulating Konstantinidis on winning the gold medal and breaking the world record, and Zisidis on winning the bronze.
