Golden Dawn MP attacked by mob

Golden Dawn MP Giorgos Germenis and an off-duty police officer were attacked by a mob of around 30 men on Saturday whilst sitting at a cafe in Maroussi.

Police authorities confirmed the assault and said the Germenis had been hospitalised after being set upon by a group of 30 people, possibly anarchists, who punched, kicked and assaulted him with pepper spray and an iron bar.

Germenis later has released a video where he claims he resisted about 30 individuals and caused them to flee. In the video, his face appears slightly bruised, with no major injuries.

Prior to his entry into politics, Germenis was known as a bassist in a Greek-Norwegian black metal band.
