Greek police have confirmed two people have died in Lesvos and two others were seriously injured after a fire raged through the Moira refugee camp used for migrants facing deportation back to Turkey.

Greek media reports claim that a 66-year-old woman and a six-year old child were killed when a tent caught fire in the camp of Moria. Two other people were seriously injured.

Police and the fire brigade are currently investigating the scene, a local government official said, adding that initial evidence is showing the fire was probably caused by accident.

Tensions have recently boiled over at overcrowded camps in all over Greece, with more than 6,000 migrants and refugees in Lesvos alone.
