Daren Metropoulos, son of Greek American billionaire investor C. Dean Metropoulos is the new owner of the famous Playboy Mansion.
The 29 room Holmby Hills home and notorious party pad, was bought by Daren for $US100 million in the middle of this year, half of Hugh Hefner’s $200-million asking price.
His father Dean Metropoulos was born in Tripoli and migrated to America with his parents when he was 10 years old. He is now a billionaire investor and businessman, who according to Forbes, has a net worth of $2.5 billion.
Both Daren and his brother Evan work in the family enterprise Metropoulos & Co. which is a leading investment firm specialising in the food and beverage and consumer products sectors.
According to many media reports, Hefner also asked an unusual proviso- for the buyer to allow him to live there for the rest of his life and to leave the Hefner bedroom untouched until after he passes.
33- year-old Daren, who is currently Hefner’s neighbour after purchasing the house next door to the mansion in 2009, is believed to have agreed to all of his conditions.
“The Playboy Mansion is one of the most iconic properties in the world and the crown jewel of Holmby Hills and the platinum triangle. For the last 45 years, Mr. Hefner has imbued the estate with a rich and storied legacy. The property’s heritage is not only that of a famous address; it is a true masterpiece in design, constructed by a noted architect for a family who played an important role in the development of Los Angeles in the early 20th Century,” Daren said in a statement after the purchase was confirmed.
Of late 90-year-old Hefner has been very quiet, causing many to fear for his health. However on Thanksgiving last week, he posted a photo on social media for the first time in months sitting next to his son and wearing his famous red robe.
