FIFA announced that Kyriakos Papadopoulos’ suspension has been doubled for his straight red card against Bosnia in November. The Greek player will miss Greece’s crucial qualifiers on the road against Belgium and Bosnia in 2017.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos was sent off with a straight red in Greece’s previous World Cup Qualifier in November against Bosnia-Herzegovina for an off the ball foul. The red left Greece with 10-men but also resulted in Papadopoulos’ suspension for Greece’s next qualifier against Belgium on March 25th.

Earlier this week, FIFA announced that Papadopoulos’ suspension will be increased to two games, meaning he will also be unavailable for Greece’s qualifier away to Bosnia on June 9th. Both away games in Belgium and Bosnia are expected to be Greece’s most difficult encounters in qualifying and the National Team will have to make due without their young Greek defender.
