Athens has been nominated for the title of “Best European Destination 2017”, according to European Best Destinations (EBD) website. A total of 20 cities in Europe are competing for the title.
In its eighth year, the online competition is an event organised by EBD, a European organisation based in Brussels and developed to promote culture and tourism in Europe.
In 2016 the best destination in Europe was Zadar in Croatia and Athens took the second spot last year.
The city that wins will be allowed to use the title and affix the “European Best Destination” logo on all its communications, adverts, commercials, websites and photos. It also has permission to authorise its own public and private partners to use the logo.
According to the organiser EBD, the election of the European Best destinations receives great coverage and promotion right across all various media in Europe.
Voting for this prestigious title will take place between January 20 and February 10. The winner will be the city with the most online votes, so start voting here now-
