Greece’s main opposition party New Democracy has taken the lead over ruling leftist party Syriza with a double digit lead, according to the latest poll results.
ND received 33% support against Syriza’s 16.5% with one in three of the respondents saying they wanted the current government to resign.
Extreme right wing party Golden Dawn (GD) came in third with a 7.5% approval rating, followed by the communist party of KKE (7%) and Democratic Alignment.
The latest poll data reflect the overall dissatisfaction with the government’s performance with only 12% approving of the government’s actions and policies with a mere 7.5% approval rating.
Meanwhile, 80% of survey respondents have a total lack of faith in the country’s negotiations with creditors believing they will end with more austerity measures.
The poll was condiucted by by the University of Macedonia and aired on Skai TV’s nightly news bulletin.
