German politician and European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources Günther Oettinger called for an end to austerity measures for Greece, saying the people of Greece have suffered enough and are already on the verge of poverty.

Oettinger who is a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU)   praised the Tsipras government for its efforts in implementing the necessary reforms to get Greece out of the crisis.

“Greeks may have not met all their commitments, but Tsipras’ government has made the most reforms than ever on budget issues, the labour market and the pensions,” he underlined.

No bank would ever lend Greece money if it wasn’t for the solidarity of the EU member states, he added on the sidelines of the Munich conference.
