Tsipras Government not responsible for 30 years of scandals: Shipping Minister

Greece’s shipping minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis has asked the Greek people not to put the blame on the Tsipras government for the current situation the country.

Kouroumblis said the Greek financial crisis is the cumulative result of 30 years of scandal and mismanagement by the major parties, PASOK and NEW DEMOCRACY.

He also said that when the second review completes then "New Democracy's request for elections that kept the balance in the main opposition party will collapse and its leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis should seek another myth "or I believe he will experience his own Waterloo," underlined Kouroumblis.

Referring to the examining committee on the public health, Kouroumblis claimed that ND and PASOK's activities will come to the limelight and will shock the Greek society. On the other hand no issue has arisen in the two years of SYRIZA governance, he said.

Meanwhile in an interview with Greek media government spokesperson Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said the ‘’general elections will be held when the time comes and the time is defined by the Constitution".

Tzanakopoulos did not deny that "some of the lenders do not want the Left to be recorded as the political force that will get the country out of the supervision and they constantly come up with demands with political and not purely economic focus".

"The government will promote interventions to support the people of labour, multiply the initiatives with aim the strengthening of democracy and freedom and proceed to the restoration of the social state with the few resources at our disposal" underlined the government spokesman.

Finally, he reiterated the government's position that the measures will be implemented "only under the condition that at the end of the programme in the summer of 2018, the mid-term measures for the Greek debt will have been already activated".
