Greece launches new Coca‑Cola No Calories with sweetener from the stevia plant

The newest edition to Coca Cola's range has made its global debut in Greece. The first-of-its-kind Coca-Cola ‘No Calories, and With Sweetener from Stevia Plant’ receipe was developed by Coca-Cola Greece in collaboration with the company’s Atlanta based global  team.

It will be made locally by Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon at its Schimatari mega-plant, Greece’s largest beverage plant and distribution facility and expected to take off worldwide.

The launch is the latest example of The Coca-Cola Company’s consumer-centric business strategy to offer more beverages in more categories for more occasions and lifestyles, with a focus on no- and low-calorie options.

"Greece is one of our pioneering countries when it comes to delivering on our global strategy for reducing sugar in our beverages and offering more choices,” said Coca-Cola Chief Innovation Officer Robert Long. “Joining a broad portfolio of low and no-calorie options across Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite brands, the new Coca-Cola No Calories and with Sweetener from Stevia plant demonstrates Greece's history of innovation and commitment to giving people the drinks they want."

Over the past 10 years, Coca-Cola in Greece has reduced the average calories in its soft drinks by almost 20 percent.

"We are very proud that Greece is the first country globally to present this new Coca-Cola choice,” said Lilian Nektariou, Coca-Cola country manager for Greece, Cyprus and Malta. “The first, global launch of our new Coca-Cola in Greece variant reflects our long history of innovating locally. Today’s launch is part of a series of actions we are taking to increase the low and no calorie drinks we offer our consumers aiming to further grow the dynamic light soft drink sector in Greece.”

It’s not the first time that the Schimatari plant has produced and launched an innovation locally before it goes global- as Sprite Zero also debuted in Greece and went on to become available in more than 100 countries around the world.
