Greek auteur Yorgos wins Best Screenplay in Cannes



Greece’s golden auteur Yorgos Lanthimos won the Best Screenplay Award in Cannes on Sunday for his feature ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ starring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman.

Lanthimos work includes ‘The Lobster’ which previously won “The Jury” prize in Cannes and ‘Dogtooth’ which received an Academy nomination.

The Best Screenplay award was shared this year with the screenwriters of the film ‘You Were Never Really Here’ by British director Lynne Ramsay.

Upon receiving his award, Lanthimos thanked the festival’s jury “for this beautiful present.”
