You can easily mistaken yourself for being in Athens when walking past GRK Souvlaki eateries in Sydney’s suburbs of Mascot and Newtown.

White Grecian tables on the sidewalk, beautiful aromas of Greek street food making their way out the door and queues of people lining outside all hours of the day, give you a sense that a little piece of Greece has hit the heart of Sydney.

GRK Souvlaki is a family owned and run business and opened its doors in Mascot in August of 2014 and Newtown in September 2015.  Serving up traditional Greek street food, it has quickly became one of the city's most loved and popular Souvlatzidika amongst Greek Sydney-siders and non- Greeks alike.

“The concept behind GRK was to bring the authentic taste of a traditional Greek souvlaki to Sydney. In addition to this, the idea also included creating an environment where our customers can feel just like they are in Greece, from the products we provide, to the music and fun atmosphere our staff provides,” says owner Sophie.

What customers can’t get enough of is GRK’s great menu, including their gyro and souvlaki pita and their signature Mixed Grill - giant tasting plate consisting of both pork and chicken gyro, as well as three pork, chicken and lamb skewers and a bifteki, accompanied by pita bread, freshly cut chips, tomato, onion, tzatziki and special sauce.

And for those who wish to end their experience on a sweet note, there is some light and delicious desserts including Yoghurt with Vissino (sour cherry) and Nutella pita.

“Our loyal customers keep coming back to enjoy a taste of ‘Greece’.  The feedback we receive is that they love the consistent traditional Greek flavour and quality of our food, the fun loving atmosphere, which includes the music, ranging from old Rebetika to current popular Greek songs and of course the philoxenia (hospitality) where customers are constantly surprised with our friendly staff who shout them something sweet- as it’s the Greek way,” adds Sophie.

So, when in Sydney and you are after a Greek food hit make sure you head straight to GRK where you can grab a quick bite on the run, or you can sit down and enjoy your meal amongst friendly faces.
