The Australian Government has granted 2 million dollars, which will be subsidised to the Australian Centre for Greek Language and Culture “LOGOS” based at Flinders University in Adelaide.

This announcement was made by South Australian MP Tom Koutsantonis, at a coference dinner in June.

“Unlike other ethnicities, we Greeks have not lost our identity in any part of Australia. I think the time has finally come to reward all Australian Greeks and especially the elderly for what they have accomplished,” said MP Koutsantonis.

The Foundation for Hellenic Studies member Theofanis Maras, thanked the state treasurer, noting that this move on the part of the government will remain in history as the greatest act of continuation of Hellenism for future generations of Greek Australians.

The LOGOS Centre was set up in 2011, with a $600,000 grant from the South Australian government, for the training and promotion of Greek language teaching.

The purpose of the Centre is to preserve and promote the Greek language and culture in Australia by strengthening connections between people of Australia and Greece, inspiring younger generations to excel and to support the Australian Greek communities to grow.
