Fires are currently raging through the village of Maries, on the island of Zakynthos. For the second night, fifty firefighters with 25 vehicles, a team of 8 men on foot, two helicopters and two aircrafts are operating the area.
Strong winds are blowing and firefighters have now started protecting nearby homes in the village, which are under threat.
Another wildfire broke out at the village Anafonitria, in northern Zakynthos, on Saturday. The village has been evacuated.
Police are now searching the area for two suspects in connection to the fire.
