George Michael's First Posthumous Single Debuting today

By 7 years ago

Much loved singer George Michael, who tragically passed away on December 25, 2016, at the age of 53 - will have his voice grace our airwaves once again as a previously unheard track will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 today.

His publicist confirmed in a statement: "Sony Music proudly presents a single by the late George Michael. Tune in to The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 tomorrow, Thursday 7th September at 9am for the first play."

Although not confirmed, social media posts have hinted that the song is going to be his remix of the Faith-era track "Fantasy."

In a statement posted on his website, George Michael's sisters reassured fans that Michael's creative team at Sony Records "will continue bringing you all the projects they had been working so hard on for you, exactly as Yog would have wanted."

Between his planned 2017 release, songs kept in limbo during Michael's legal battles in the 1990s and the false starts at following up 2004's Patience, an estimated three albums' worth of material has been left unsurfaced.

You can listen to the track right here on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show at 9am (Local London time) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00p2d9w/episodes/player
