Greece’s Prime Minister is on an official visit to the USA where he is expected to meet President Donald Trump to discuss security, terrorism and the refugee crisis.

US Ambassador in Athens Geoffrey Pyatt said he expects the Greek PM’s visit to be a success because of the close relationship between the United States and Greece and how closely their interests align in world affairs

Tsipras met on Sunday with Senator Dick Durbin and later met with representatives of the Greek-American community.

Ambassador Pyatt describes the visit as a symbol of commitment to the existing partnership and the readiness to further enhance it. He says the United States will be looking for ways to encourage more U.S. investment to Greece.

On Souda Bay he said the two sides will explore ways to make enhanced use of this platform that has benefited both our countries since its establishment in 1969.

On Saturday, the Greek PM attended a working dinner in Chicago with businessmen and investors where interest in the prospect of investments in Greece was recorded.

The Greek government's delegation, Economy Minister Dimitris Papadimitriou, Defence Minister Panos Kammenos, Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas and Deputy Foreign Minister Terens Quick also attended the dinner.

"Greece does not only leave behind the crisis but also the model that led it to that" underlined Tsipras, according to government sources.

Twelve businessmen-representatives of major Chicago companies activating in the sectors of energy, innovation, computing, high technology, air-carriers, real estate, funds and start-up participated in the meeting. The climate that prevailed could reflect the phrase "the Greek comeback" used by a large number of the participants and prime minister himself after the end of the meeting.
