Greece’s Porto Carras Grand Resort in Halkidiki won three awards in three major categories at the recent World Luxury Hotel Awards held in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

The Greek luxury resort took out the top European award after it was voted “Luxury Casino Hotel – Continent Winner, Europe” whilst also taking out  “Luxury Family Resort – Country Winner” for its five-star Meliton and Sithonia hotels and its Villa Galini hotel was crowned “Luxury Wedding Destination – Country Winner”.

It comes as no surprise for many in the international hospitality business given the resort has often hosted international personalities over the years, such as French politician François Mitterrand, Prince Albert of Monaco, artist Salvador Dali, pianist Gina Bachauer, Russian president Vladimir Putin to name a few.

“The authentic atmosphere of New Orleans in the casino of Sithonia hotel is perfectly combined with the classic luxury of the new Meliton Prive casino of Meliton hotel, the chic aesthetics and the VIP services,” Porto Carras said in a media announcement.

The resort’s Villa Galini which took out the “Luxury Family Resort – Country Winner”, had had its two hotels repeatedly honoured for providing their young guests with the ideal infrastructure to secure their comfort and entertainment.

Furthermore, the resort’s Villa Galini, “a place of exceptional beauty and unrivaled luxury”, was distinguished as a “Luxury Wedding Destination – Country Winner”. According to the announcement, the accolade follows Villa Galini’s previous distinction as the “Best Historic Hotel Wedding Experience”.
