With only one month to go before the high season begins, Greece will be packed with tourists once again as airports across the nation are set to handle more than 55 million passengers in 2018, following a record year in 2017 at 58 million.

To keep up with demand international and local airlines have increased flights to the most popular destinations and currently 14 regional airports are receiving renovations. These upgrade works are budgeted at 415 million euros and due to be completed by 2021.

First in line was Mykonos airport and next is Kos airport, with runway works set to begin on March 4. Once completed the airport is expected to mark a 200 percent increase in traffic.

Construction will also commence at Kefalonia, Rhodes, Aktio and Zakynthos.
