Sydney set to Go Greek this weekend

Tumbalong Park at Darling Harbour will be transformed into a Hellenic affair this weekend the 17th and 18th February 2018, for The Greek Festival of Sydney.

With two days of non-stop entertainment including live music from local and international musicians, dancing performances and much more, this is an event not to be missed if you are in Sydney.

An initiative of the Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales, the Greek Festival is a great multicultural event where everyone is invited to celebrate and explore the beauty of Greek culture through the arts, history, entertainment and food.

In 2018, the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW celebrates 120 years since its establishment, and is the oldest and largest organised Greek community entity in the country. It was established to serve the spiritual, cultural and socio-economic needs of Greek settlers and their children.

Nia Karteris, Festival Chair of the Greek Festival of Sydney said “The Greek Festival of Sydney reflects the rich and diverse multicultural nature of Australia and it has evolved into the most significant and prestigious Greek-Australian community event in NSW. Now in its 36th year, the Greek Festival of Sydney has played a key role in providing a forum for showcasing a multitude of Greek expressions by featuring the finest Greek-Australian talent alongside the most acclaimed Greek artists in the world today.”

This year, recognised as one of the hottest names in Greek music currently, Giannis Haroulis will entertain the massive crowd on Sunday evening with a sensational performance on the main stage for an unmissable show.

Haroulis’ sold-out concerts are highly energetic and full of rhythm, and his ability to connect with his audience has seen his career skyrocket, to the point of playing over 100 shows a year.

Don’t forget to also wander through the many food and merchandise stalls all offering a very distinct Greek flavour, so make sure you bring a huge appetite, comfy shoes and get ready to dance the night away, as you get a taste of Greece at the Sydney Greek Festival!
