Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras revisited the issue of Aegean sovereignty during a plenary session in Parliament on Thursday, declaring that Greece’s sovereign rights and Cyprus' rights in the eastern Mediterranean and its EEZ are non-negotiable.
"Our country is a factor of stability and security, and (Turkey) cannot play games with Greece," Tsipras said, calling for composure, patience and measured steps in face of Turkish provocations.
He added that what he had to say about Turkey he told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in person, and he challenged ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis to be as candid with Erdogan as he had been.
According to sources during the plenary session the leader of New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis raised questions about whether Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras promised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to send back the eight Turkish officers who escaped to Greece after the failed coup of 2016.
