Manos Pyrovolakis, is a Greek singer, who is known for his individual, unique style of music, blending his Cretan musical roots with pop rock. For the first time in Australia, he will performing a concert in Sydney on Sunday 15th April 2018.
It was at the age of 13, when Manos acquired his first Cretan lyre. He later obtained a degree in classical music from the National Conservatory and a degree of jazz harmony from the Filippos Nakas Conservatory.
Manos sings the famous Greek song ‘Kivotos tou Noe’, which means ‘Noah’s Ark’. The dynamic song was in the running to represent Greece at the Eurovision song Contest for 2010, and came second in the national selection. ‘Kivotos tou Noe’ is written in both Greek and English and has an intense Cretan rhythm, with Pyrovolakis himself playing the distinctive Cretan Lyra combined with modern pop rock sounds. The song uses an infamous stereotype, of Noah’s Ark to talk about the unanimity and love between people, with the vessel brining people and souls together under the roof of love and rightness.
Throughout his life, he has also worked and toured with many artists such as Remos, Glykeria, Paparizou, Dalaras, Aslanidou and Kotsiras.
Expect to hear hits including ‘Bori na vgo’ (with Remos), ‘Stis ekklisias tin porta’, ’An I Agapi' and many more at his concert, which he will be accompanied by local Sydney band Iho Nyx.
