New ferry route set to link all Ionian Islands for first time in history

The Ionian will for receive a much anticipated new ferry route linking all of the islands together for the first time in history.

The ferry service will be introduced on May 1 and continue through high summer season, ending on October 14.

The news was announced by Greece’s Minister of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Panagiotis Kouroumblis, “The linking of the Ionian islands will be a new reality that will put an end to the isolation between islands belonging to the same region,” he said.

The service by ferry company Ilida Paxos Hydrofoil will be run on a 30-metre long vessel, which can carry up to 260 passengers.

The ferry will link visitors from Corfu with Lefkada, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Zakynthos and Paxos, Monday through to Saturday.
