Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim claims Greece is causing tensions in the Aegean and that a Turkish coastguard lowered the Greek flag from a "Turkish rocky island," according to reports in the Hurriyet Daily.
"We are aware of some actions of neighbouring Greece that are causing tension in the Aegean. Tensions have multiplied lately especially regarding ownership issues. Again, we see actions similar to those in Kartdak and again on Didim Island, as an attempt was made to place the Greek flag into uninhabited territory, "Yildirim said.
“Our coastguard intervened with the appropriate actions and lowered the flag from there,” the Turkish Prime Minister said.
The rocky islands in which Yildirim refers to are located east of Farmakonisi.
