Andreas Conrad Leonakis, is raising awareness in memory of The ANZACS, Greek and Allied Forces, The Cretan People and his father Timotheus Leonakis, who fought as a young 16 year old man in the conflict 75 years ago.
Andreas has decided to walk the distance of the length of Crete and back. Crete is 260 kms long.
He started his walk on Sunday May 29th, from The Greek Club at West End to the QLD, NSW border and back to Brisbane, which is approximately 520km’s. Andreas will take the more difficult Route and go through either the Toowoomba Mountain range or Cunningham’s Gap. Andreas hopes to be in the Stanthorpe area by June 10th and then to the Border in the township of Wallangarra.
“It was an important historical event that has a direct bearing on the freedoms we enjoy today. My 620 km walk will commence 20th of May 2018 from Paniyiri at Musgrave Park, Brisbane. Profits from this year’s walk will go to Mates4Mates, an organisation which provides services for returned veterans and their families. I am grateful for any support that you can give.”
Andreas is looking for Sponsers and Volunteer’s to take on this journey, if anybody is interested in joining him in memory of this Historic Event contact Andreas or CPS, Community Projects Supporters at www.cps.asn.au or to Donate go through to: l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcps.globalfundraising.com%2Fhome%2Fen-au%2Fshop%2Fproduct%2F51%2Fwalk-of-awareness-the-battle-of-crete&h=iAQE56Gs3AQFoSaswpix1IWV6ZiYoYBGlMBBl2NtIk__qIQ
