Athens and Epidaurus Festival kicks off today

It’s the first day of summer in Greece and also the opening of the much-anticipated annual Athens and Epidaurus Festival!

Over the next three months there will be an array of cultural events including plays, comedies and drama, along with music, art, theatre and dance, which will take place at some of the most ancient Greek sites.

For those lucky enough to be in Athens over the Summer, make sure that you check out the Festival, which really is a magical experience that will remain with you forever!

The Festival of Epidaurus 2018, which mainly presents theatrical performances built upon the ancient Greek tragedy and comedy plays, will be held at the Ancient theatre of Epidaurus, the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus and Ancient Stadium of Epidaurus from the 22nd of June to the 18th of August 2018.

The programme includes a kaleidoscope of theatre performances such as: the Acharnians by Aristophanes (29 - 30 June), Agamemnon by Aeschylus (6 - 7July), The Libation Bearers by Aeschylus (6 - 7July), The Eumenides by Aeschylus (13-14 July), Plutus by Aristophanes (13 - 14 July), Antigone by Sophocles (20 - 21 July), Electra by Sophocles (20 - 21 July), Thesmophoriazusae by Aristophanes (27 -28 July), Orestes by Euripides (3 - 4 August), Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus (3 -4 August), The Frogs by Aristophanes, (10 & 11 August) Oedipus at Colonus by Sophocles (17 - 18 August).
