“Dinner in the Sky is a once in a life time experience. Guests from all over the world have the chance to share a table of 22 seats with people that they don’t know and quickly become one big group enjoying a delicious 5 course menu along with carefully selected local wines. While suspended up to 50 meters above the ground they enjoy a magnificent sunset, amazing views of the Acropolis and an overall 360 degree view of Athens,” said owner of Dinner in the Sky Greece, Alexandros Papadopoulos.
The unique experience, which is entering it’s fourth year in Athens is extraordinary, as it's welcomed more than 13,000 guests including singers, actors and athletes from all over the world.
As the table slowly rotates, the restaurant gives guests a wonderful 360 degree bird’s eye view of the city of Athens and a vibe that is always upbeat, fun and happening.
The heights may be a concern for some, but Dinner in the Sky’s team makes sure that everyone feels safe and once up in the air, everyone forgets about their fear of heights. Alexandros says “We have had cases that guests were ready to leave the venue when they realised what Dinner in the Sky was all about. We convinced them to join us and they had the time of their life. So to those who are afraid of heights I say leave your fears in the ground and join us for an experience that you will remember for ever.”
This year, Dinner in the Sky wanted to focus on using local products from different Greek regions. Their updated menu by chef Magda Gkogkoura includes Fava bean and Vinsanto wine from Santorini, Koulouri (bagel) from Thessaloniki and Salmon cooked with Ouzo. Their carefully selected wines which guests sip on while on an elevated high in the sky are from the region of Peloponeese, particularly from Nemea.
“Each day at Dinner in the Sky is unique. We have the chance to meet different people from all over the world and it is always amazing how guests very quickly connect with each other and enjoy the experience. Of course occasions such as wedding proposals, wedding anniversaries and birthday celebrations make our evening more special. It is a great honour for us when guests choose Dinner in the Sky to celebrate a milestone of their life and we are sure it will be one to remember for ever!”
A tourist from Washington in the United States of America said it was “the most fun we had during our visit in Athens!" Giving the experience 5 out of 5 stars. “We had so much fun from beginning to end. When you check in you are given an Ouzo cocktail and some tasty hors d'oeuvres. The entire crew were absolutely fun and made the whole experience even that much more memorable. The chef...wow...what can I say about her...she does all the cooking and plating right there in front of you while up in the air...nothing is prepared in advance so you know it's all fresh. The food is superb and the wine endless…Though you really don't even notice, you are slowly rotating so you have the opportunity to take photos of all angles. Our waiter was a whiz with a camera as well. He would take our cell phone and snap candid images of us that even I probably wouldn't have been able to get. Those photos are so my favourite taken of the night. Once the Acropolis is lit up...just wow is all you can say.”
