Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday on the sidelines of a European Council meeting in Brussels.

Tsipras and Stoltenberg discussed the FYROM name deal and the issue of the two Greek soldiers being detained by Turkish authorities.

According to government sources the Greek PM highlighted that the name agreement foresees that all procedures must be followed before NATO launches FYROM's entry talks. Stoltenberg replied that NATO agrees with this framework, sources added.

In a briefing Stoltenberg held earlier with the European Council, the General Secretary spoke about this framework existing without any exceptions.

Tsipras also asked that NATO take a more active role regarding the detainment of the two Greek soldiers as they have been held for 3.5 months in a Turkish prison without any charges being laid against them. Stoltenberg said that he will make every effort possible.
