Micro-funds scheme for businesses that can’t get bank loans

Greece’s Alternate Economy Minister Alexis Charitsis announced on Saturday the creation of a new micro-credit fund that will support small enterprises that do not have access to bank loans.

Charitsis referred to the scheme during a growth conference organised by the newspaper Peloponnisos in the city of Patras.

The Minister noted that the scheme will be tabled very soon in Parliament and is of particular importance given that small and medium sized businesses are the backbone of the Greek economy and consequently every effort for growth should pass through the support of the SMEs.

“After August 20 that is date of the official exit from the third programme, the government will announce measures of development character” the Minister said adding that "important measures that will accelerate the growth process will be announced at Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) in September".
