The 2018 Emmy nominations have been announced, which is an annual event recognising excellence in the television industry. Game of Thrones, the television series that has taken the world by storm, has a growing popularity that does not seem to be slowing down as it’s been nominated for an incredible 22 nominations this year.
Not only are some of the storylines based on Greek mythology and ancient history, there are also several actors and an executive producer with a Greek background that are involved with the popular drama series.
Vince is one of the ‘Game of Thrones’ executive producers. He won an Emmy for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ with the Game of Thrones team in 2015 and was also nominated for one in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Eros is a twenty-three year old English-Greek actor and comedian, who played ‘Lommy Greenhands’ in the series. He initially appeared as a guest star in the first season and returned a short time in the second season.
Makeup Artist Marianna Kyriacou has been one of the makeup artists for Game of Thrones since 2015. In 2016, she also won an Emmy for “Outstanding Makeup For a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic)”.
Miltos Yerolemou is a Greek Cypriot actor based in London. In Game of Thrones, he played ‘Syrio Forel’. He appeared in five episodes.
Born in London to Greek-Cypriot parents, George Georgiou plays ‘Razdal mo Eraz’ in season 3 and 6 of Game of Thrones.
Michail comes from the town of Langadas, Thessaloniki, and was a visual effects production assistant for Game of Thrones in 2015. From a young age he used to attend theatrical school, but he mostly enjoyed working behind the scene.
Xena is a Greek actress and model and appeared in an episode of the popular series.
