Greece registered the third consecutive victory at the 2018 Women’s European Water Polo Championship, comfortably cruising past Croatia 21:2.

Previously, the Greeks started the tournament with a comprehensive 12:5 win over France, before edging a tight encounter with the Italians 7:6. Taking into account Croatia’s two heavy losses to the Netherlands and France, Greece were overwhelming favourites for today’s match, with the Ethniki Omada living up to the expectations.

It was an ideal start to the game in Barcelona, as Greece won both opening periods by a score of 5:1 to earn a commanding eight-goal advantage at the break. In the mood for more, the Greek team improved even further in the second half, scoring eleven unanswered goals and comfortably winning 21:2.

Alexandra Asimaki was the star of the show, becoming the Greek top scorer with an impressive six goals. Eleni Xenaki and Cristina Chrysoula Tsoulaka grabbed three goals each.
