Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the Founder and owner of Easy Jet, a British airline, has announced he will donate €100.000 to the Greek Red Cross, for the relief of those affected by the devastating fires that have ripped through Attica.

The large amount of money was deposited in an account created yesterday by the Hellenic Red Cross for the support of the affected people.

Stelios stated “taking into account the state of emergency in which the affected areas of Attica are located and recognising the important work that the Greek Red Cross has done over time, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation offers the significant amount, always aiming at the direct relief of our fellow human beings.”

The President of the Greek Red Cross, Mr. Nikolaos Economopoulos responded to the donation thanking Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation “for the quick response to our increased needs. This offer is a strong ally in our efforts to help the affected areas and we hope to be an example for other individuals or organisations who are interested in supporting us in our work.”
