The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation has announced it is helping the residents of Attica who were affected by the deadly fires, by donating € 5,000,000.

The non-profit organization was established in Greece in 2005, to continue the benevolent legacy of John S. Latsis.

The Foundation prioritises its funds for the emergency relief of citizens in need and infrastructural improvement.

The money donated will be deposited in a special account, which has been opened by the Ministry of Finance and the Foundation will be cooperating with the State to ensure the funds are best used.

In the announcement, the Foundation's Supervisory and Executive Council stated:

"The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation expresses its deep sorrow and sympathy for those who suffered from the devastating fires of 23 and 24 July 2018 in East and West Attica.

With a deep sense of debt to the victims of the fires and their families, the Foundation will contribute to the collective effort to support affected and rehabilitated areas and their infrastructure.”
