25 People Still Missing from Wildfires

There are 25 people officially reported as still missing by their families after the deadly fire that swept through eastern Attica and the seaside town of Mati, the fire brigade announced on Sunday.

It said the number was reached after cross-checking available information and reports made to the fire brigade.

According to the announcement, the forensics service has so far completed the process of identifying 59 dead bodies, while the identification of another 28 is still pending. A further four people died in Athens hospitals since the fire, according to the National Health Operations Centre, bringing the total confirmed death toll from the fires to 91.

The fire brigade again expressed its deep sorrow to the families of the victims.

Earlier, the health ministry announced that 10 burn victims from the deadly fire in Mati are still in hospital ICUs and that a total of 43 adults and one child still in hospital.
