Son of murdered British man arrested at Athens International Airport

The son of murdered British property tycoon Derek Arber, has been arrested by Greek authorities at Athens International Airport.

Mr. Arber was found dead on Sunday 21 July at his home in the town of Agios Georgios on the island of Antiparos.

Police said that the businessman had been stabbed in the back with a sharp object, probably a screwdriver, while his neck bore marks of strangling.

Restaurant-goers noted that Mr. Arber had been out the night before he was killed, having dinner with his son, before the two became engaged in a full-blown argument.

His son was the police's prime suspect in the murder, who fled Greece before a warrant for his arrest was issued. It has been reported that he travelled to Spain in order to lay low, but he returned to Athens on Tuesday night and was arrested, ten days after his father’s death.

He has been transferred to Syros, where his testimony will be listened to by the prosecutor for the area of the Cyclades.
