Greece’s Defence Minister Panos Kammenos met on Thursday with his Qatari counterpart, Dr. Khalid Al-Attiyah.
The meeting was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations especially in the private and public defence sector and the training of Qatari pilots in Greece.
During their joint press conference after the meeting the men said their talks focused on bilateral relations, on the two Greek servicemen who are still detained in the Turkish jail in Edirne as well as on the recent deadly wildfires in eastern Attica.
On his part, Al-Attiyah expressed his country's willingness to intervene for the release of the two Greek servicemen and offered his condolences and his country's unequivocal support to the Greek people over the tragedy in Mati.
Kammenos expressed Greece's support for Qatar, which he said is the only country that invested in Greece during the crisis.
